Pumpkins
I read in one of the various parent magazines that there is a relatively safe way for your toddler to carve pumpkins with you. You poke golf tees into a pumpkin in some sort of design (star, fish, monkey, whatever) and let them pound them into the gourd with a toy hammer. I thought this was a brilliant idea! Unfortunately, we do not enjoy golfing and don't have any tees, but large nails work just as well. Shane helped Joey scoop out the insides of his pumpkin, and since I always stunk at art, Joey made a disco ball. He had so much fun pounding in those nails, and the gourd was soft enough that he could get new holes started by himself.

Oh, that is a good idea! So, Joey didn't mind getting his hands full of pumpkin goop? Sammy hated that. (Although Natalie didn't mind it - she's my really messy one.)
